  Transport Department, Government of Karnataka has taken up a project to implement total computerisation and issue of Smart Card Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration Certificate at all the 55 Regional Transport Offices (R.T.Os) / Sub Regional Transport Offices (S.R.T.Os) (including 9 Supervisory offices) and 15 checkposts in the State under Public-Private Partnership scheme. In this regard, an agreement was executed with M/S. Rosmerta Technologies Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi on 25th February 2009.The project has been implemented throughout the Karnataka State.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka has inaugurated issue of Smart Cards for Registration Certificate and Driving License with effect from 25th June 2009 in Ten of Bangalore's Regional Transport Offices
